Coach's Corner: Tips & Tricks
A student in one of my classes asked about top, most common mistakes beginners make, great question! Here are a few favs:
Trying to use a joker within a pair or for singles like "2024" (Never allowed)
Trying to win on a concealed hand after exposing part of their hand to call for a tile
Trying to hone in on a single hand to play, too early in the game (better to leave options open and play many hands as long as you can without leaving all your tiles on the table for all your hands- tricky!)
Forgetting how many rules are listed on the back of your card (great resource!)
Confusion on direction for dealing, turns, tiles (Deal and take turns counterclockwise, pick and throw tiles clockwise)
